Former Layton Mayor Wendall T. Snow died Thursday, June 9, 1988, in Layton. He was 63.
Mr. Snow was born July 29, 1924, in Brownswood, Texas, to Thomas Bell and Jewel Stapp Snow. He served 31/2 years with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and worked for the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot for 13 years. He also worked in the cataloging branch at Hill Air Force Base.He served for a year on the Layton City Council before being appointed mayor in 1960. He subsequently was elected to office in 1961, and was involved with the layout of Layton City. He also helped start the city's Little League baseball program.
He served as mayor until 1964, when he resigned to take a job with the Defense Logistics Service Center in Battle Creek, Mich. He later returned to Utah.
Mr. Snow was a member of the Eagles and the VFW, and was chief of cataloging for the Civil Service at the time of his death.
Graveside services are scheduled Monday at 11 a.m. in the Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Rd. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at 1074 N. Fairfield Road.
