The Soviet Foreign Ministry spokesman said a policeman in the Azerbaijani capital Baku was killed by a shotgun blast fired by an Armenian during an ethnic protest. The Foreign Ministry spokesman also told a news briefing that rumors two Armenians had been killed in Baku led to a protest march in Moscow on Sunday. He said a general strike had been called in Yerevan, the Armenian capital, to demand the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region be turned over to Armenia.
