There would be sufficient parking at a planned north Phoenix Mormon temple that has been the target of neighborhood opposition, a zoning adjustment officer ruled this week.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wants to build its Phoenix Temple at 5200 W. Pinnacle Peak Road. Nearby residents in January asked zoning adjustment officer Ray Jacobs to investigate how the city concluded 269 parking spaces would be enough.

Neighbors argued that the city required fewer parking spaces than needed because it undercounted rooms by designating them as public assembly areas instead of worship space.
