Olalemi "Lemy" Adeseye Adekunle, 13, a deacon in the Ojodu Ward, Nigeria Lagos Stake, took first place in his age group at a Nigeria Inter-School Chess Tournament. He also participated in the Lagos State Inter-School Tournament, where he won a silver medal.
"I was very, very happy for following the feeling I had, and I was announced as the best U-14 Player in Nigeria and was presented with a gold medal and a certificate,” he said.
The contestants were divided into groups of four that played 8-game rounds to determine a winner from each group. He was the winner in his group and played against another group winner.
"My testimony has increased today because I have seen it more clearly that when we call on the Lord for help at the point of our difficulty, he will always answer,” Lemy said.
