Jacoby Walker, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound quarterback from Westfield High School in Spring, Texas, has de-committed from Kansas and plans to enroll at the University of Utah in January.

The future Ute passed for 2,385 yards and 25 touchdowns this past season. He also rushed for 355 yards and five scores.

Walker said his collegiate plans changed with "all the stuff that was happening up at Kansas." Head coach Mark Mangino resigned in the wake of allegations that he mistreated players.

The turmoil prompted Walker to pursue other options. He said Arkansas, Kentucky and TCU were the other programs he seriously considered before choosing Utah.

"I really liked it," Walker said of his official recruiting visit to Salt Lake City last weekend. "That is the place I wanted to be."

The soon-to-be graduating senior is eager to get his college career started.

"I've always planned on coming in during January because playing quarterback you've got to come in and learn the system," Walker said.
