Don't turn the heat down past 65 degrees, to help avoid frozen pipes — even if you won't be in the house for a while.
In extreme cases of not having insulation around pipes, leave a faucet on and let the water trickle down the drain.
Consider opening the cabinet doors under the faucet to allow heat to flow around the pipes.
Make sure garden hoses are disconnected from outdoor faucets.
