The state Christmas tree glows at the southeast corner of the Capitol grounds in Salt Lake Tuesday. The tree was planted a year ago — as a 12-footer — by Behunin Horticulture to serve as the state's Christmas tree for generations to come. The longtime tradition of decorating a massive cut tree in the Capitol rotunda ended when the renovated building reopened last year. Fire-code restrictions and concerns about damage to the building led to the planting of a live tree.
