Mike Huckabee's defense of his decision to commute some of murderer Maurice Clemmons' sentences is more fairy tale than fact. Particularly of note is Huckabee's insistence that he had no evidence at the time to indicate that Clemmons was capable of killing four police officers.

Huckabee is lying. Clemmons already had a history of violence specifically directed at officers of the law. One of the charges against him was breaking into the home of an officer and stealing that officer's gun. He also threw a padlock at a court bailiff but missed. He hid a piece of metal in his sock to use as a weapon. He threatened a judge. And, most disturbing, he tried to grab a gun from a guard while being escorted to a courtroom.

How many officers was he planning to shoot with that gun?
