Kelly Monson is back at KBZN (FM-97.9) for his third stint there.

The station recently rehired him to do mornings, this time with co-host Aly Rae.

Monson, a radio veteran with 32 years broadcast experience, left KBZN last May after nine months at the station. He first left KBZN in late 2006, after eight years, to go to KOSY, where he spent eight months as a morning host.

Monson, a Salt Lake City native, started on the air on KUER in 1977, back when students could man the campus station. After that, he spent two years at KSFI, then 11 years at KRSP, during its "golden years," when FM-103.5 commanded a huge share of the Salt Lake radio market. He went to KLZX for two years before spending three years at KUMT and just over a year at KKFM in Colorado Springs.

Rae does news, traffic and weather.

Brandi Lynn is now the midday DJ at FM-97.9, replacing Dan Jessop, who has more than enough to do as operations direction for the station and sister station KLO.

Rob Riesen remains as the afternoon host, and Michael Kane stays as the evening host.

KBZN still advertises itself as the "smoothest place on your radio" but also stresses "more music radio" as it appears to be playing more music than ever, with less talk.

KBZN is owned by a small local broadcast company, Capital Broadcasting.

KSL CHANGE: AM-1160/FM-102.7 recently added the "Clark Howard Show," midnight to 3 a.m. This show is designed to help listeners save more, spend less and avoid rip-offs. That's not a prime listening spot, but there's always Howard's own Web site, www.clarkhoward.com for financial advice since this topic is more timely than ever now.
