A judge has ordered that millions of dollars believed channeled into Swiss banks by former Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos be returned to his homeland, the Justice Ministry said Saturday.

Although no figure was given, the assets involved were believed to be a small part of the $1 billion that Philippines officials suspect Marcos put into Swiss bank accounts during his 20-year rule.Swiss media said Marcos has $50 million in Fribourg banks, but Justice Ministry spokesman Joerg Kistler refused comment on the reports.

The judge also gave authorities in the Philippines access to relevant bank records in Fribourg, one of 26 cantons, or states, in Switzerland.
