WOMEN'S SOCCER: It was another tough road game for the Griffins against Southern Oregon on Friday afternoon. Stacy Szeto scored the game's only goal in the 87th minute to give Southern Oregon a 1-0 win over Westminster. With the loss the Griffins fall to 5-6-0 on the season and 0-5-0 away from Dumke Field.
Westminster controlled the action most of the game, outshooting the opposition 16-6 in the contest. They also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks and forced Southern Oregon keeper Jessica Kuehlwien into 12 saves to earn the shutout. Jen Pirente took six shots on the afternoon with three on frame. Dayna Winter-Nolte made two saves for the Griffins who have now gone 375 minutes on the road without scoring. Westminster will look to halt its current three-game losing streak on
Sunday, September 28 when they face Oregon Tech in Klamath, Oregon.
VOLLEYBALL: The Griffins dropped Friday night's match with 12th-ranked Lewis-Clark State in three sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-22, at Salt Lake City. The loss dropped Westminster to 3-9 on the season and 3-2 in the Frontier Conference.
Janele Kendall led the Griffins' effort, finishing with 10 kills, eight digs and two blocks. Ali Culp recorded seven kills and 12 digs, and Whitney Adams also racked up 12 digs for the Griffins.
