Southern Utah's football team is back out on the road, this time in Marcos, Texas, to rekindle a rivalry with Texas State today.
The Thunderbirds (1-3, 0-0 Great West) will be looking to get back on track after suffering back-to-back losses to opponents from the Big Sky Conference. SUU lost a 46-10 decision at No. 3 Montana two weeks ago, then had their upset hopes against Northern Arizona dashed by an interception in the end zone in the final minute last Saturday in Cedar City.
Texas State (2-1, 0-0 Southland) picked up its first road win of the season with a 38-35 win at Northern Colorado last week. The Bobcats opened with a 21-14 home win over Division II Angelo State on Aug. 30, then lost a 47-36 shootout at FBS member SMU on Sept. 6 before taking a bye week.
Game time is set for 5 p.m. (MDT).
It will mark the ninth game between the Thunderbirds and Bobcats. The series is even at 4-4. SUU is 1-4 in games played in San Marcos, with the one Thunderbird win coming in 1999 when SUU claimed a 32-28 come-from-behind win.
SUU won the last meeting between the two schools, a 30-21 triumph in Cedar City in 2005, but the Bobcats prevailed 34-0 in the last meeting at Bobcat Stadium, in 2004.
