Salt Lake police Friday afternoon were looking for a man in a carjacking at the Avenues Smith's.

About 1 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was in his car in the underground parking at Smith's, on E Street between 5th and 6th avenues, said Salt Lake police detective Jeff Bedard.

A man came up to the car, knocked on his window and asked for money, Bedard said. The teen gave the man $5, and the man responded by pulling out a pocketknife with a green handle and four-inch blade. He told the teen to get out of the car, Bedard said.

The boy complied, and the man got into his car and took off. The teen ran after the car yelling, "Someone took my car," Bedard said. His vehicle was last seen at B Street and South Temple.

Police were looking for a 2008 blue Subaru Legacy 4-door. The personalized Utah license plate on the car said, "Halopro," named after the popular video game.
