Salt Lake narcotics detectives and the SWAT team arrested two people Wednesday night after serving a warrant and finding various amounts of drugs.

The warrant was served about 9 p.m. near 1500 West and 500 South. Investigators found 13 ounces of cocaine, 3 ounces of meth, a half-ounce of crack, a rifle, a handgun and $3,500 in cash, said Salt Lake police detective Jeff Bedard.

Four children, ages 7 to 15, were taken into protective custody.

Derek Aragon-Mendez, 44, and Rose Marie Avila, 32, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of multiple counts each of drug possession, child endangerment and possession of firearms by a restricted person.
