AMERICAN FORK — HELP International, a nonprofit organization developed to help eliminate global poverty, has partnered with local artists to hold a benefit concert today at 6:30 p.m. at the American Fork Amphitheater (851 E. 700 North).

The concert will feature T Minus 5, Cherie Call, Debra Fotheringham and the Lone Peak High School Chamber Choir with the proceeds going to benefit children and families in Uganda. Mallory Hurst, a HELP International volunteer and the concert's event planner, recently returned from Africa and promised to do all she could to alleviate the problems that affect Ugandans every day.

"While walking down the streets of Uganda, I saw a glimpse of what the country could be; the potential is extraordinary," Hurst said. "Our goal at HELP International is to empower those we serve. Whatever money the concert raises will go towards helping families and communities become self-sustaining."

Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Advance tickets are available at the UVU McKay Events Center Box Office, 801-863-7469; the American Fork Arts Council Office, 801-763-3081; and the HELP International Office, 801-374-0556.
