The competency hearing for a woman accused of attempting to kidnap two children from the Salt Lake Main Library was put on hold Monday after doctors submitted conflicting reports.
Terryette Woods, 51, grabbed the wrists of two girls, ages 5 and 8, at the library on June 20 and told them, "You're coming with me," according to charges filed in 3rd District Court. The girls told police Woods tried to drag them toward the door, but when one girl screamed, a security guard appeared and Woods left.
Conflicting reports regarding Woods' competency and ability to stand trial have been submitted to the judge, according to court documents. A doctor was ordered to re-evaluate Woods and another competency hearing was scheduled for Oct. 20.
