LOGAN — Although Cache County's recycling program faced some opposition when it first started two years ago, residents seem to have warmed up to the idea.

The Logan City Environmental Department says people are recycling more every month.

About 1,968 tons of residential recycling was collected in 2006. The total increased to more than 4,500 tons in 2007 and is already above 3,300 tons so far in 2008.

City officials say curbside recycling has made it much easier for people to sort through their waste and not just send everything to the landfill, which is taking less volume than it used to.
