Jewish Family Services — Volunteers needed to run a monthly book group for seniors in the Sugar House area. Art teachers also are needed to help seniors learn to draw and use watercolors or acrylics.

Primary Children's Medical Center — Volunteers needed in many areas of the hospital including the information desk, gift shop and foundation office. Bilingual speakers encouraged to apply. All shifts available. Good interpersonal skills needed. Volunteers may e-mail [email protected] .org.

American Diabetes Association — Have a great time and help the association with the "Step out to Fight Diabetes" walk Saturday, Sept. 27, at Hogle Zoo. Four hours of service are requested. Food, zoo admission and a volunteer T-shirt are provided.

Head Start — Volunteers need to help with the yearly family fun fest. They will help with inflatable recreation toys, children's games, a reading booth, a health clinic and set up and take down for the event.

Utah Museum of Fine Arts — Utah Museum of Fine Arts is recruiting for fall docent training programs. Weekend and weekday shifts are available. Applications are due in September and training begins the first week of October.

Accessible Homes Foundation — The Accessible Homes Foundation is looking for volunteers to be on its board of directors. Volunteer opportunities in other areas are also available. Skills in running a nonprofit or knowledge in accessible housing helpful. Board members and other volunteers would commit four to 10 hours a month.

Utah Food Bank Services — Utah Food Bank Services' Fall Leaf Haul is Saturday, Nov. 1, at 9 a.m. More than 160 volunteers are needed to rake leaves and perform other light yard chores for low-income senior citizens. The Utah Food Bank is currently filling opportunities for the food box delivery program, which is great for group and individual volunteers to work directly with individuals.

American Red Cross — Volunteers needed for a three-week emergency assistance tour of Gulf Coast and East Coast areas damaged in hurricanes Gustav, Hannah and Ike. Volunteers are also needed in Salt Lake City. Training provided. For information and requirements, go to
