Welcome to the new American economy — where taxes are low, spending is high and government subsidy sustains the corporate marketplace. And who do the American people have to thank for this blessed mess?

Themselves.

Go ahead and point fingers at government neglect or corporate excess, but the American people are equally responsible. Too many of us have chosen to live beyond our means, for no reason other than credit allowed us to do so. Tax breaks and government bailouts do nothing but mitigate the consequences of our decadence. Accountability is the only thing that will steer this country back on course.
