Both Mark Sweet (Readers' Forum, Sept. 11), and Jason Bemston (Readers' Forum, Sept. 15) seem assured in their grasp of the problems in public education. Since funding is not part of the solution for them, perhaps they could demonstrate their solutions to the rest of us by signing up to substitute teach in their local junior high or middle school for a few weeks. There they could clearly demonstrate their previously undiscovered systems of "teaching our students vital life knowledge" while raking in their $82 each day. I, for one, would love to read about their accomplishments.
