Now that my heart has returned to normal rhythm and the flashbacks have begun to subside, I would like to send this message to the young, blond female driving a large maroon SUV up Weber Canyon on Sept. 12.

Since I haven't read about any fatalities that evening, I assume you made it to your destination safely. Thanks to some wonderful defensive driving by my husband, we avoided being sideswiped by your car as you swerved on that narrow roadway while you were texting someone.

I wish we had been able to get your license plate number, but unfortunately you are one more careless driver who got away. When will you and other drivers get it? It's time our Legislature took on the cell-phone safety issue.
