RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — After firing a second-round 6-over-par 78 on Wednesday, former Lone Peak High golfer Annie Thurman-Young failed to make the cut at the sectional qualifying for the LPGA Qualifying School.

Young was in good position following an opening-round 1-over 73 on Tuesday on the Dinah Shore Course at Mission Hills Country Club. But her 78 Wednesday on the Palmer Course left her one shot outside of the top 70, the 36-hole cutline. After 36 holes Sun-Ju Ahn was in first place at 12 under par, with Michelle Wie in second at minus nine.

Following the completion of today's final round the low 30 advance to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament Dec. 3-7 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
