BASKETBALL: Former Utah State basketball player Jaycee Carroll was named the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Utah State Chapter Collegiate Male Athlete of the Year, as selected by the MS Society selection committee.
Carroll was honored at the 30th annual MS Dinner of Champions on Sept. 10 in Salt Lake City.
MEN'S GOLF: At Denver, Colo., Utah State's Benjamin Schilleman tied for 24th with rounds of 72, 75 and 72 to help the Aggies finish in 10th place out of 17 teams at the Ron Moore Invitational hosted by Denver University on Monday and Tuesday.
It is the second straight top-10 finish for the Aggies.
VOLLEYBALL: Sophomore middle blocker Katie Astle recorded seven kills and seven blocks to help lead Utah State (2-9) to a convincing three-set win, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19, against Utah Valley at the Smith Spectrum on Tuesday.
Senior outside hitter Melissa Osterloh led Utah State with nine kills, to go along with six digs and five blocks, while Astle hit .600 in the match. Fellow senior outside hitter Kris Hymas added six kills, four digs and two blocks, and sophomore setter Chelsea Fowles had two kills, four digs and tied a career-high with six blocks.
Kayli Broadbent had nine kills and four digs to lead Utah Valley.
