Outlook: Hawks look to garner respect for themselves and the state when they travel to California this weekend. Next up: vs. Grant, Calif., at Sacramento, Calif., Saturday.

2. Timpview (3-0) Class: 4A

Was: 2. Points: 335. Last week: Did not play.

Outlook: Heading into Reg. 7 play, it's hard to see anyone challenging the T-Birds, much less beating them. Next up: at Payson, Friday.

3. Cottonwood (4-0) Class: 4A

Was: 3. Points: 324. Last week: Beat Murray, 42-0.

Outlook: Three weeks until the Colts face Highland and four weeks until East, just in case anybody else is counting. Next up: at Cyprus, Friday.

4. Layton (3-1) Class: 5A

Was: 4. Points: 299. Last week: Beat Fremont, 38-13.

Outlook: With Davis and Northridge on tap, the next two weeks will tell us if Layton can repeat in Reg. 1. Next up: vs. Davis, Friday.

5. Northridge (3-1) Class: 5A

Outlook: Knights led 28-0 at halftime before cruising to a league-opening victory. Next up: vs. Fremont, Friday.

Outlook: Sky View looks scary good right now, which won't comfort anybody in Reg. 5. Next up: at Roy, Friday.

Outlook: You start to see the end of the tunnel for Bingham, but a stiff nonregion test remains before the Miners begin play in surprisingly stacked Reg. 3. Next up: at Lone Peak, Friday.

Was: 13. Points: 234. Last week: Beat Highland, 14-7.

Outlook: If you're an East fan, it's hard for you to not be smiling after a big win over your hated rivals. Next up: at Murray, Friday.

9. Pleasant Grove (3-1) Class: 5A

Was: 10. Points: 231. Last week: Beat Copper Hills, 31-0.

Outlook: The Vikings have clearly had one of the state's best defenses so far. Next up: vs. Brighton, Friday.

10. Mountain Crest (3-1) Class: 4A

Was: 12. Points: 209. Last week: Beat Woods Cross, 42-7.

Outlook: Mustangs need to get past Bonneville before hosting a huge game against Bountiful next week. Next up: at Bonneville, Friday.

11. Pine View (3-1) Class: 4A

Was: 11. Points: 207. Last week: Beat Las Vegas, 41-13.

Outlook: Full credit to Pine View for not dwelling on Cottonwood loss and getting right back on track. Next up: at Canyon View, Friday.

12. Davis (3-1) Class: 5A

Was: 16. Points: 177. Last week: Beat Clearfield, 21-6.

Outlook: The Darts have played well throughout the opening month of the season, and this weekend should tell us exactly where they stand. Next up: at Layton, Friday.

13. Highland (2-2) Class: 4A

Was: 7. Points: 173. Last week: Lost to East, 14-7.

Outlook: Opening league loss to rival makes it much harder for Highland to extend its long run of region championships, but there's still a long road ahead. Next up: vs. Granger, Friday.

14. Skyline (2-2) Class: 5A

Was: 8. Points: 158. Last week: Lost to American Fork, 24-20.

Outlook: Skyline's red-hot start seems like forever ago, and the Eagles must now beat a highly motivated and much-improved Kearns bunch just to avoid losing three in a row. Next up: at Kearns, Friday.

15. Logan (3-1) Class: 3A

Was: 15. Points: 155. Last week: Beat Judge, 46-21.

Outlook: Following the humbling loss to neighbor Sky View two weeks ago, Logan showed it's nonetheless the team to beat in 3A by dispatching Judge. Next up: vs. Highland, Idaho, Friday.

16. Bountiful (3-1) Class: 4A

Was: 17. Points: 117. Last week: Beat Bonneville, 17-0.

Outlook: Braves notched their second shutout of the season by blanking Bonneville. Next up: at Box Elder, Friday.

17. Riverton (3-1) Class: 5A

Was: 20. Points: 105. Last week: Beat Hillcrest, 49-14.

Outlook: A win this weekend would go a long way to prove that Riverton is legit. Next up: at Jordan, Friday.

18. Juan Diego (4-0) Class: 3A

Was: 18. Points: 104. Last week: Beat Wasatch, 31-0.

Outlook: Soaring Eagle has just been destroying teams, but will it continue with Judge coming to town? Next up: vs. Judge, Friday.

19. Lone Peak (3-1) Class: 5A

Outlook: All signs to this point suggest Lone Peak will be a player in the postseason. Next up: vs. Bingham, Friday.

Outlook: Over the next two weeks, Titans need to take care of business against two very beatable opponents. Next up: at Weber, Friday.
