JEFF MANNING, Logan, football: Manning had a subpar game against Sky View in Week 3. The timing couldn't have been worse for Judge Memorial.
Manning rebounded to complete 15 of 28 passes for 264 yards and four touchdowns in Logan's 46-21 win over Judge on Friday night. He completed three of his touchdown tosses in the first half with two of them going to Josh Thompson.
Manning has completed 68 of 132 passes on the season for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns. His NFL passer rating is 88.2, while his NCAA passer rating is 136.5. He has also rushed for 230 yards and four touchdowns on 57 carries.
BRIAR SANDS, Lehi, soccer: You can't ask for more out of a goalkeeper than what Briar Sands has done for Lehi.
In the Pioneers' last six matches, Sands has recorded five shutouts including, most prominently, a 1-0 result against Lone Peak last week. She has six shutouts so far this season, a total that ranks best among all 5A goalkeepers and is a big reason for Lehi's undefeated record to this point. The junior has developed into a multisport star for her school. Sands started as a sophomore last year and averaged 5.0 points per game for the Pioneers. Off the court and the pitch, she excels in the classroom where she has distinguished herself as a high honor roll student.
