Local health departments have been tackling what to do with extra medications, attempting to keep outdated or unusable drugs out of the water supply.
Because prescription and over-the-counter medications should never be poured down a toilet or sink, Salt Lake Valley Health Department and its partners offer special periodic disposal opportunities, including:
• Thursday at 4626 S. 2300 East, Holladay, from 7-10 a.m.
• Sept. 25, Sugarhouse Park, Garden Center, 1602 E. 2100 South, 7-10 a.m.
Because of strict laws governing prescription medications, police will be present at the events to collect the medications and process them to incineration.
