In reply to Safiyyah Parshall (Readers' Forum, Sept. 7), the Palestinians have no one to blame but themselves for the loss of their country. It was their own intolerance of the Jews that caused them to lose their country.

After World War II, Palestine was divided between the Palestinians and the Jews. The Jews were quite content to have a country of their own, but the Arabs — including the Palestinians — hated a Jewish state so much they attacked Israel and attempted to destroy it. The Jews ended up winning and took control of Palestinian land.

If the Palestinians want their freedom and country back, then they should stop supporting terrorist groups like Hamas.
