On the heels of the exuberant response to Gov. Sarah Palin's nomination for vice president, hordes of desperate Democrats and their muck-raking accomplices in the media are rushing north to Alaska. Not since the Gold Rush of the 1890s and the oil rush of the 1970s has there been such an anxious swarming of diggers. The big difference: The fervor of the current rush is not about digging for gold or oil but digging for dirt.
