A West High School teacher accused of having sexual relations with a 17-year-old student made his first appearance in court last week.
Jose Bernardo Fanjul, 45, was arrested Tuesday and charged with five counts of forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony, and five counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.
Between March 1 and July 31, Fanjul engaged in various sexual acts with the girl, according to the charges filed Tuesday. The incidents happened at the school after hours, according to jail documents. A bond hearing is scheduled this week.
