PLAYER OF THE GAME

Max Hall — He firmly placed himself among BYU's elite quarterbacks with his record-tying seven TD passes in less than three quarters — six in the first half.

PLAY OF THE GAME

Even though the game was clearly in BYU's pocket, the highlight play came late in the third quarter when reserve defensive end Matt Putnam jumped high to deflect and then intercept an attempted screen pass from UCLA quarterback Kevin Craft, setting up the Cougars' final score.

KEY CALL

On the first play after Jan Jorgensen sacked quarterback Kevin Craft and forced a fumble, the Cougars didn't give the Bruins any chance to recover and went deep over the middle on the very next play, with Max Hall hitting Austin Collie for a 37-yard TD strike.

QUOTABLE

"This is the next victory in our program that we return, and where we want to return, to where BYU football once was." — Bronco Mendenhall, BYU head coach
