When it was determined, years ago, that Johnny couldn't read, the teachers were blamed. Whom do we blame when the editors can't use the correct singular and plural usage of a noun? I quote from the editorial on Sept. 11: "Haskins was uncomfortable for being singled out for that phenomena. ..." Phenomena is plural. If that was the word the writer wished to use he or she should have used the modifier "those."
