MEN'S SOCCER: The Griffins improved to 4-1-2 on the year after taking care of Dakota Wesleyan 5-0 on Friday evening in Salt Lake City. The Griffins used a 26-5 advantage in shots and played 27 different players in the win.

Val Campbell and KC John totaled three saves in the combined shutout.

Ryan Smith put Westminster on top in the 11th minute when he put an Andrew Tovstein cross past the keeper from 15 yards out. Smith scored again in the 56th minute, his third goal of the year. Rue Van Dyke scored in the 22nd minute, Cameron Wynhof tallied in the 37th minute, and Mark Stoker rounded out the Griffin goals in the 64th minute.

Westminster returns to Dumke Field today when it faces Embry-Riddle Aeronautical (Ariz.) at 1:30 p.m.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: A goal in the 82nd minute from Maddie Spere gave the Griffins a 2-1 lead and was good enough for a third straight win.

Spere took a cross from Jen Pirente and buried it past the Dominican University goalkeeper for the game-winner. Westminster improves to 4-3-0 on the season while dropping Dominican to 3-1-0.

Pirente put the Griffins up 1-0 when she tallied her fifth goal of the season in the 44th minute. She took a Sarah Swenson through ball and beat the keeper in a one-on-one situation. Goalie Dayna Winter-Nolte made four saves in picking up her fourth win of the year.

Westminster will take on Embry-Riddle Aeronautical (Ariz.) on Sunday at Dumke Field at 10:30 a.m.
