Aaron Jones castigated Gov. Sarah Palin as being "no Teddy Roosevelt" (Readers' Forum, Sept. 10). Mr. Jones is living in the past. Any marine biologist knows that oil platforms don't ruin fishing and marine life, but rather enhance and increase them. Enviro-nuts are fighting the removal of depleted oil platforms because of the rich ecosystems that flourish around them, just as they once bitterly fought their construction.

The porcupine caribou herd has nearly doubled since Prudhoe Bay was developed. Modern oil recovery is compatible with nature but not with liberals.

Jones is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.
