OREM — A multivehicle accident with injuries slowed southbound traffic just south of the University Parkway exit in Orem and sent two people to the hosptial.

Four vehicles were involved in an accident around 11:30 a.m. just before the S-curve in Provo on Interstate 15 at mile marker 268.

A man driving a Nissan Titan pickup truck was following too closely behind a Ford Van, and ended up slamming into the back of the van.

The van was pushed into a Yukon which crunched into the back of a Lexus, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Cameron Roden.

Two of the four lanes were closed briefly, as emergency crews responded to get the cars off the road.

They opened one of the lanes but the far right lane stayed closed for about an hour, Roden said, as they extricated the man in the van.

He was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Titan was also taken to the hospital with less serious injuries. Roden said.

Roden said he will be cited for following too closely.
