BYU Management Society plans golf tournament for Sept. 18

The Salt Lake City BYU Management Society, with host Bruce Summerhays and grand marshal Chad Lewis, will hold its 13th annual scholarship golf tournament Sept. 18 at Thanksgiving Point golf course.

Registration that day will begin at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast with Summerhays at 8 a.m., a clinic at 9 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.

Evergreen conference Sept. 19

Evergreen International will hold its 18th annual conference Sept. 19 and 20 in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in downtown Salt Lake City.

Evergreen International was founded in 1989 as an information, education and resource organization for men and women working to overcome same-gender attraction while maintaining and sustaining the doctrines and standards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The conference will include more than two dozen workshops. There will be specific sessions designed to meet the needs of spouses, parents and friends. In addition, there will be workshops for Spanish-speaking participants.

The keynote speaker will be author and therapist Janelle M. Hallman, whose book, "The Heart of Female Same-Sex Attraction," was published earlier this year. Elder William R. Walker of the Second Quorum of the Seventy will be the featured speaker Saturday at 9 a.m. On Saturday evening, LDS musician Michael Dowdle will present a fireside.

Ward celebrating 50 years

The Mount Olympus 12th Ward — originally the Holladay 12th Ward — will hold its 50th reunion Sept. 26 and 28. Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve served as the original bishop from 1958 to 1964. Since then there have been eight bishops, including Robert Monson, President Thomas S. Monson's only brother, 1997-02; and Korey Rasmussen, 2002-present. All of the former bishops except Elder Ballard still live in the ward.

The first event Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. will feature displays and a program. The second event will be a sacrament meeting, held Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. instead of the usual 9 a.m. All present and former members are invited. For more information, contact James Pingree at 801-278-2361.

Interfaith festival in Ogden

The Interfaith Fall Festival will be held Saturday at Mount Ogden Park under the theme "A Moment in Time." Representatives from the Ogden East Stake and Weber State 2nd and 1st stakes were involved in the committee. The festivities will begin at 7 a.m. with a 5K run/walk. There will also be a humanitarian project, booths, live entertainment, food and a golf and tennis tournament.
