Recently I flew back East to visit colleges. While I was on this flight, I thought about the differences I had noticed in the airline industry since I had first flown on a plane 12 years ago. First, there are massive amounts of hidden fees. Gone are the days when a $200 plane ticket cost $200. Another thing is, the airlines are taking away basic travel necessities like having to pay $15 for one checked bag. Last time I checked, having an extra pair of underwear wasn't exactly a frill.

Do the airlines really think that this is the right way to run a business? What does it say about us as consumers if we don't stand up to them?
