A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against a Salt Lake couple accused of tax evasion.

John and Jana Gauruder are charged with one count of income tax evasion. From 1995 to 2001, the couple failed to pay more than $335,000 in taxes, according to a statement from the U.S. attorney for Utah.

The indictment also alleges the couple transferred the title of their home to a third party in an effort to avoid paying taxes.

If convicted the couple faces up to five years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
