Joseph "Jay" Watkins, a small forward who will play for the College of Southern Idaho this season, has committed to play for the University of Utah, according to several scouting Web sites.

The 6-foot-7 Watkins, who is originally from Memphis, Tenn., was named to the West Coast Conference all-freshman team while at University of San Francisco in 2006-07 after averaging 6.2 points and 3.5 rebounds but left the program in January. He will play for CSI this season, and transfer to Utah for the 2009-10 season.

The Utes already have two players committed for next season, 6-10 forward Jeremy Olsen from Georgia and 6-1 guard Marshall Henderson from Texas. They also will get 7-2 David Foster back after his LDS mission. The Utes have one scholarship remaining for the 2009-10 season.
