AMERICAN FORK — A child who was run over by a truck Saturday night will make a full recovery, police say.

The 2-year-old boy, whose name police are not releasing, had been riding a skateboard on his stomach on a neighborhood sidewalk near 700 North and 500 West in American Fork.

Just after 8 p.m., a neighbor in a full-size pickup truck had pulled part of the way into his driveway and put the truck in park.

As the truck settled back slightly, the boy slid by on the skateboard and the back truck tire rolled over part of the boy's head and torso, said American Fork Police Sgt. Gregg Ludlow.

The boy had abrasions and was bleeding from his face but was conscious and breathing when he was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition, Ludlow said.

He is now in stable condition and should "bounce back" from the accident, Ludlow said. "He's a very, very lucky little boy."

The case is still an open investigation, Ludlow said, but at this time no citations have been issued to the driver.
