Looking for a way to add trendy color to your space? David Bromstad, HGTV's designer and host of "Color Splash," has simple techniques for implementing chic hues into your designs without breaking the bank.
1. Create a neutral palette
When picking out your high-priced furniture, stick with neutral colors, such as gray, tan, brown, black, white or gold. This gives you a constant base to work with, so as colors become trendy, you can add them to your space without spending a lot of money.
2. Start small
The easiest and most versatile way to add color is to intersperse the trendy shades throughout your space with pillows, glass, rugs and artwork.
3. Transform your space
Painting a room is the most inexpensive and most dramatic way to bring color into your home. If there's a trendy color combination you want to try, put them both on the walls. Just be sure to pick shades in the same value, so they'll work together.
4. Find a strong focal point
Can't commit to painting an entire room? Start with one focal wall. It will draw the eye throughout the space, creating a visually interesting room.
5. Go bold
If you want to go all out with trendy color, add a colored couch or chair to your space. Be sure to accent with neutral colors to calm down the brightness of the furniture.
