As a consumer I appreciate the state Division of Public Utilities and the Utah Public Service Commission for questioning the proposed service reductions by Rocky Mountain Power (Deseret News, Sept. 4).
I am extremely disappointed, however, that Utah State Senate President John Valentine feels that the proposed cuts by Rocky Mountain Power are justified. I have always had this idealistic feeling that the state senators and representatives are concerned about, and represent, the ordinary citizen. Slowly I am learning otherwise. Could the $60,000 donation to Utah politicians, with $3,000 of that to Sen. Valentine, have any influence? Surely not.
