Sen. Pat Jones, D-Salt Lake City, has been named the 2008 Athena, an award presented each year to an active member of the Salt Lake Chamber who demonstrates excellence in business and service to the community.

She will be presented with the award, sponsored by Wells Fargo, Nov. 18 at the chamber's American Express Women & Business Conference.

In addition to Jones' service at the Legislature, she is president and co-founder of Dan Jones & Associates Inc., a political polling company that she started with her husband. At the chamber, Jones is a member of the Education Committee and the Board of Governors.

The chamber also will present five women with 2008 Pathfinder awards: Silvia Norman, vice president of Latino banking at Wells Fargo; Nancy Nowak, vice president of clinical operations at Intermountain Healthcare; Karen Suzuki-Okabe, deputy mayor of Salt Lake County; Lisa Vehrenkamp, a vice president at American Express; and Andrea Wolcott, senior officer of the Salt Lake City branch of the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank.
