I recently attended an input meeting on the Governor's Blue Ribbon Education Task Force plan to totally revise the standardized testing done in Utah's schools. The new plan is to drop three tests at a savings of $6 million and add more than 10 new tests at an estimated cost of $68 million without even piloting the proposed program in a smaller sample of schools. That's not only an example of power politics, it is totally irresponsible.
