I commend local police departments for their recent efforts to remind motorists that they need to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. There are many days when I feel like I take my life in my hands as I cross State Street. Granted, most drivers are very courteous, but there are always a few who are inattentive and drive right past me.
May I also remind drivers to stop and look both ways before exiting a parking lot. Often, drivers are only looking at oncoming traffic as they approach a parking lot exit, without realizing that there might be pedestrians coming toward them.
