Materials needed:

15 yards of sheer organza ribbon (1/ 1/2 - 2 inches wide)

Ruler or tape measure

Fabric scissors

Elastic headband (looks like an oversize ponytail holder)

Step one: Measure and cut 28 strips of 24-inch long organza ribbon.

Step two: Wrap each ribbon at its halfway point around the elastic headband and tie in a double-knot. Note: Typing the knots too tight will stretch out the headband. The ribbon should be able to — with a little push — move around the headband.

Step three: Suit up your little ballerina, put on some classical music, and spend the next two hours of playgroup watching your tiny dancers plie, jete, and arabesque around the room!

Variations:

Add rhinestones, silk flowers or a feather boa to the bottom of the ribbons or around the waistband. Be sure to glue both sides of the ribbon because it's thin and one side will stick to your work surface.

To make a fluffier tutu, cut 40 pieces of tulle (6x14 inches). Tie each one onto the elastic and add any embellishments.
