WEST VALLEY CITY — A 9-year-old girl was killed Friday night in a two-vehicle accident involving a tow truck, police said.

Leslie Ventura had been pinned inside the car during the crash near 3500 South and 4000 West about 9 p.m., said West Valley Police Lt. Bill Merritt. Leslie, her 5-year-old brother, Alexandro, and 11-year-old sister, Yajaira, were taken from the crash scene by helicopter in critical condition. Leslie died at Primary Children's Medical Center late Friday night.

The driver of the tow truck, Steve Nesbitt, was taken to Intermountain Medical Center on critical condition. Luz Ventura, who had been driving the car, suffered only minor injuries.

No citations have been issued, but police say the crash occurred when Ventura turned left into the path of the truck at a green light.

"It's just an accident," Merritt said. "That's all it is."
