Republican Convention: The cable networks — CNN, C-SPAN, FNC, MSNBC — will provide coverage pretty much all day long. In prime time, PBS (Ch. 7) will be on from 7-10 p.m.; ABC (Ch. 4), CBS (Ch. 2) and NBC (Ch. 5) all plan an hour at 8 p.m.

Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon (7 a.m.-5 p.m., Ch. 4): Annual event returns.

College football: Fresno State at Rutgers (2 p.m., ESPN); Tennessee at UCLA (6 p.m., ESPN)

Women's college soccer (4 p.m., Ch. 11 and BYUTV): Arizona at BYU

Deal or No Deal (7 and 9 p.m., Ch. 5): Somebody will finally win a million dollars in this episode (which is cut in half by convention coverage).

The Closer (7 and 10 p.m., TNT): A hair stylist is murdered. (TNT is airing a 12-episode marathon of Closer episodes from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.)

Raising the Bar (8 and 11 p.m., TNT): Producer Steven Bochco brings us this new legal drama that feels like a lot of old legal dramas. Mark-Paul Gosselaar plays the idealistic young public defender; Jane Kaczmarek plays the overly tough judge. It's OK, but nothing to get excited about.
