A new center that offers a wide range of programs to help women who are on probation or parole in Salt Lake County will open its new building Thursday.

The Women's Treatment and Resource Center offers such things parenting classes, job training, educational opportunities, and help for substance abuse and mental health problems. It currently serves 200 women.

The new building at No. 80 S. Orange St. (1900 West) in Salt Lake City will be officially unveiled with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m.

The center works with a number of community organizations to accomplish its mission of helping women move from being supervised by the courts to living independent, healthy and productive lives.

Among the center's partners are the YWCA, People Helping People, the Division of Child and Family Services, the Department of Workforce Services and various housing authorities.
