WOODS CROSS — Police here said they arrested a man on suspicion of rioting and aggravated assault after a spat over name calling got out of control.

Police said the fight began Sunday when a girl was called a name.

"She called her friends, they came down and confronted somebody, and one brought a knife to the fight," Woods Cross Police Chief Paul Howard said Monday.

Police said a large group gathered at a home near 800 West and 1175 South. Officers had to use pepper spray on one man to break up the fight. An 18-year-old man was booked into the Davis County Jail on investigation of riot, aggravated assault and interfering with arrest.
