PROVO — A man was arrested this week after he allegedly tried to make a mentally disabled 15-year-old his drug dealer.

The 27-year-old man lives next door to a facility that houses special-needs individuals, where the 15-year-old boy lived, said Provo Police Capt. Cliff Argyle.

He approached the teen and gave him $50 in cash, then told him to go buy him marijuana, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in 4th District Court.

Police arrested him and booked him into the Utah County Jail for investigation of attempting to distribute marijuana.

The 15-year-old boy told police he "just wanted to be cool," and that he "thought it would be neat if he could arrange the purchase of some marijuana," Argyle said.

The boy told police he had purchased marijuana in the past. He was taken to Provo's juvenile detention center for investigation of attempting to arrange to distribute marijuana.
